Some colleges I'm reaching for:

Johns Hopkins
Northwestern U
U of Illinois Urbana
U of Illinois Chicago
U of Chicago
Cornell U

Pursuing: A Medical Career (Radiologist? Pharmacist? dunno)

So yeah...accepting speculations, comments, suggestions, criticisms. My EC's are pretty weak. sigh So how are my chances for these colleges (and others)?

i don't know much but i'm from illinois too (i'm guessing you are, since most of your colleges are in illinois) so here's what i think.
it'd also help to know your approximate rank.

johns hopkins: reach
northwestern: reach
urbana: match
uic: safety
u of chicago: reach
cornell: reach

you'll probably have to raise your SAT for johns hopkins and cornell, but i think all the others will just take ACT. your ec's are kind of weak, but colleges LOVE study abroad-esque things, so maybe if you capitalize on that?

Yeah, I'm from Illinois. Well, I really have no idea what my class rank is because my school doesn't calculate it since it is the most competitive and the highest ranked school in the state. I'll take a modest guess and say that I am at least in the top 15%.

Anyways, is it true that the colleges on the coasts still prefer the SAT over the ACT?

East coast schools will take either your SAT or your ACT score. They say that they view both tests equally and I, personally, believe them (although there are those who feel that there are schools which favor one test over the other).

In relation to your chances... your ACT scores are high, so I'd use those instead of your comparatively low SATs (no need to report both). Also, your UW GPA is a bit on the low side. It doesn't kill your chances, but for the reaches on your list, it hurts them a bit. Chances on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Johns Hopkins University... REACH.
Northwestern University... REACH.
University of Illinois Urbana... LIKELY.
University of Illinois Chicago... SAFETY.
University of Chicago...REACH.
Cornell University... REACH.

Some other suggestions (I don't know if you're still looking, but these are some ideas)...

REACH: Carnegie Mellon University (PA), University of Notre Dame (IN), University of Virginia (VA)
SEMI-REACH: Boston College (MA), Bucknell University (PA), Colgate University (NY), University of Michigan Ann Arbor (MI)
GOOD FIT: Boston University (MA), Denison University (OH), George Washington University (DC), Lehigh University (PA), New York University (NY), St. Olaf College (MN), University of Rochester (NY)
LIKELY: American University (DC), Case Western Reserve University (OH), Drexel University (PA), Northeastern University (MA), Syracuse University (NY)

Right, but when you are sending your SAT Subject Test scores, aren't you forced to report your SAT Reasoning scores too?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=338133

Thanks for all your help!

Yes you will have to report your SAT reasoning scores if you report your subject test scores. However, if you take the ACTs, you don't need to have subject tests... those are only required if you're using SAT scores only on your application.

Oh right, I remember my counselor mentioning that. I really get it since isn't the point of the Subject Tests to show your proficiency in other areas that standardized tests like the SAT and ACT don't test in? But if I remember correctly, some schools still want the SAT IIs with the ACT so yeah...I'll just have to do well on Saturday.

You should look at UIC's GPPA program, since you have the numbers.
In Illinois, for publics, UIC has the big health care programs.

Yeah, I have been looking at that program as well as UIC's Honors College. I'll most likely attend UIC and enter its pharmacy school & the 4 year Pharm.D program.

As for my "low" GPAs, I kinda messed up my first two years. Only since the start of my second semester in junior year that I really excelled. (4.0 UW, 5.29 W)

And as for my SAT scores, I'm pretty sure I can raise my CR and W scores tomorrow. I boosted my score about 160 points on a practice test and I feel pretty psyched & pumped up.

I think your chances are good at Chicago. You can apply EA (pretty sure it's non-binding).

OK, here are my updated standardized test scores. I improved on ACT by one point and I improved on the SAT by 150 (or 160 by superscoring).

ACT: 33

So will this boost my chances at least a little?

Colleges I am considering...

Johns Hopkins
Northwestern U
U of Illinois Urbana
U of Illinois Chicago (and GPPA)
U of Chicago
Cornell U
New York U
Colgate U

bumpity bump
