I'm a bit worried about the lack of air conditioning in the majority of the dorms. How hot does it get in that region? (I've never been to the Midwest before) I'm asking this because its half the reason I want to go to school in the north instead of south. I can stand the cold but not the heat. So is the living in the dorms uncomfortably hot or is a personal fan enough?

lol. i'm worried about that too. my dorm doesnt have a/c and the climate in the states right now isnt the coolest around... will my first months in notre dame be unbearable?

You guys worry too much! I am constantly hot and I survive in a dorm without air conditioning, you just need a box fan in front of you. It does get warm, and there will be days in the 90's with humidity, but it doesn't last for too long. It will be hot for the first few weeks and last few weeks of the year, but the rest should be fine. If it was THAT bad, all the dorms would have air conditioning. Don't worry, it is doable if you have a fan. Also, remember that this is coming from a person who has a portable air conditioner in their room at home (which I could bring to school but don't).

Hope that helps some

Irish,

Is the weather similar to Denver?

Well, Denver has 330 days of sun a year...South Bend, well, doesn't! Temperature wise it is pretty comperable (though SB has humidity, Denver doesn't) but one big difference is just the number of sunny days. Unfortunately, SB has more than its share of cloudy days and rainy days!

oh so we're allowed to bring portable air conditioners?

lol, I am not sure but I was thinking of doing it anyways (I don't think anyone has tested it honestly. If you were to try, it couldn't be one of the window ones but one that is free-standing and has a vent that goes to the window, you know? I can get you a picture if you don't know what I am talking about.

Would it fly, I have no idea, but it tempted me. However, not enough to do it. Really, it isn't that bad!
