Hello, all!

I was wondering how common it is for med school applicants to have clinical experience before their freshman year of college (the clinical work would be done the summer before college). By 'clinical experience,' I mean shadowing a doctor and perhaps doing rounds with med students. Thanks in advance!

I'd also like to know the answer to this question.

I'm very sure that it would help for medical school, and if you're planning to become a doctor you should definitely have SOME clinical experience (such as shadowing, volunteering, etc.) before medical school.

I do know that many combined/accelerated medical programs look for high school kids with lots of clinical experience so perhaps it is the same. It would definitely help to have some of that stuff listed in your application because the admissions committee need to see that you're interested in the medical field.
