Just wanted to get some input on my career plan.
I love the clinical lab. I currently work as a Biology Lab Assistant so I have sort of a glimpse of how the clinical lab environment is. I want to finish my BS in Biochemistry or Microbiology and maybe a minor in Journalism or even a double major. I want to do the journalism major/minor because I want to work part time as a medical writer or whatever comes my way. After completing one year post bac at Davis to get licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist, and work for 2-3 years full time while pursuing an MS/MA in a similar field. After saving up those three years, I plan to attend medical school in the Caribbean so I can advance within the Clincial Lab. If I stop after completing the MD, can I still advance to higher positions in the lab?

what exactly do you want to do in a clinical lab? You don’t need an MD to work in one and I would certainly never advise anyone to do a caribbean MD. Nothing like shelling out over $250,000 for a 45% chance of being a doctor.

Complete the MD then after that do a residency in Pathology. Pathologists pretty much coordinate the lab.
