Clinton '08?!

has hillary got a chance?

God help us if she does!

God will help us in any case. (I'm surprised you don't think God will help us if there is a Republican President.)

The answer is simple: No.

YES!!! I'm such a BIG Hillary fan... if she runs, I'm working on her campaign!

Can I just plead with you guys for a minute?

If you Democrats would like to lose, please nominate Hillary Clinton. Please do it.

I think a logical consensus is that Hillary will run, and loose in the Primaries. I just can't imagine the guys in the red states, with the confederate flag stickers on their pickup trucks, voting for a Northeastern Liberal Elite...and she is a woman!!

On a personal note, I hope she runs...and wins. We need a strong AND intelligent leader. :)

Don't forget that those who vote in the primaries represent the extremes of both parties. So yes, she likely could make it through the red state primaries unless the same pragmatism that caused the Dems to compromise on Kerry because of his "electability" comes into play. Her electability in the general election is another thing, however. I know several women (from the Northeast) who have never voted for a Republican, who say that they will absolutely not vote for Hilary. They may not vote Republican, but they certainly won't vote for Hilary. My guess is that safest bet for the Dems in 08 would be somebody like Bill Richardson or possibly Evan Bayh.

Go Hillary! She's the Dem hopeful of every Rep I know! She won't be a North East liberal when she runs. She'll be a moderate from the Mid West and an honorary Southerner! Just like she's a New Yorker now!

If she runs I'll be voting Republican again. I predict a long time will pass until another Democrat is elected again.

No way. Hilary is the last person we need running. Even though she won't be super liberal she will not get past the whole clinton sex scandal that resonates in the red south. I'd say a good person would be Joe Biden of Delaware or perhaps Tom Harkin of Iowa. Hopefully someday I can vote for Barack Obama for President! And even better yet, I hope someday I'll be the VP on Obama's ticket!!

Agreed re Hillary, though I personally am a fan; I would like to see her as our first woman President, but more than that I want a Democrat in the White House.

I notice the Wall Street Journal thought Hillary would be a great candidate, since she is such a hawk! Exactly what I consider to be her biggest negative in terms of my vote.

In terms of other people's votes, I fear she is so intensely hated by much of the electorate that her candidacy would be a disaster.

She WILL run. She will win, and be the first woman president. All the bigots against women are republicans anyways, so it really doesn't matter. She won't lose any votes. I don't understand why she is hated so much. She's a strong, sensible, and intelligent woman who has kicked ass as a senator.

And John Kerry, who has served in the Senate for 4 times as long as Hilary, wasn't as or more kick ass. In our times us Democrats have to face that no matter how progressive and right-minded a candidate is he or she probably won't be able to win if he or she comes from the North East. That said, we were only 120,000 votes away in Ohio from winning it and I think with some reformed ideals we can take Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, and New Mexico back, plus Ohio for a good win.

As a democrat, let me say that Hillary would be killed if she ran. She comes from the Clinton family...the Republicans (especially Karl Rove) would have a field day. She would be slaughtered on the campaign trail. She will run, but she will lose in the primaries.

Maybe Bill Richardson or possibly even John Edwards...

The reason for John Edwards is such:
1) He was an unlikely choice for the VP spot. He wasn't well known, so it seems as if Kerry got pressured by the DNC to bring up someone from the South.
2) Edwards is extremely bright and is far more personable than Kerry or any other Democrat.
3) Edwards' southern accent is bound to be a success in pulling lots of votes from the South and possibly wins in Arkansas and Missouri.
4) Edwards is a lot like Clinton in '92. That bodes well for Democrats.
5) Most likely Giuliani will be running as the Republican and we all saw how someone from the North gets hammered in the South during a Presidential election.

ya democrats. Nominate her and recieve the biggest landslide slaughter since reagon beat your asses.

ummmmm Billary Clinton 2008 ...that would officially spell the end of the modern Democratic Party as we know it.

jaug1-- I was thinking of Bill Richardson too.

If you guys don't want your party to implode, you have to think outside of NY and CA. Hillary will never, never appeal to them-- ever. Everyone I know-- including Democrats-- here in NY even hates her with a passion.

I think Babybird et al are right. I was with a group of left coast liberals (all we have around here, of course) yesterday and we were talking about the election and I had the NY times article that had pictures of 6 hopefuls--including Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson, etc. I mentioned that many people are talking about Hillary as the frontrunner and the reaction was vigorously negative. She would have a huge burden to overcome to try to prove herself different from people's perception of her.

My guess is that if Laura Bush ran against Hillary Clinton, Laura would win.

But sadly, I do believe that there is still too much gender bias in this country for almost any woman to be elected president; I am not even sure about vice-president.

What is the doggon obsession with Hillary? I don't get it. Bill cheated on her and all of a sudden...something happens... and now for some reason some believe she should be prez. Someone please enlighten me. What is so great about Hillary? Is she the only democrat with half a chance of bagging the WH?
