closed offices

pretty mcuh every admissions office is going to be closed until the day that the application is due. my question is i haev several recommendations that i want to check on including my cornell supplement, and financial aid forms for other schools to check for. just to check that they got there .

also what happens if my recs, or whatever dont get to teh school and i find out after the admission date?

One of my son's teachers who was writing him recs said the rec-writers have a bit more leeway than the student applicants have. His rec did not reach my son's EA school until after the deadline, but they still accepted it and my son was accepted there, so I wouldn't worry too much about the recs arriving by the app deadline.

If the schools you're applying to have online tracking systems, you may be able to check whether the items were received before those offices closed for the year. But if there's no one there, and the items hadn't been received before they closed down, you won't find any updated info right now anyway. I'm not sure there's really anything else you can do at this point except to make sure you've mailed everything on time (with mailing confirmation) and check on Jan. 3. (But be aware that thousands of other students will likely be calling on Jan. 3 also, so it might be a madhouse that day...) Good luck with everything.

Don't sweat it. Recs and stuff routinely dribble in days to 2-3 weeks late. Colleges realize that this stuff is beyond the applicant's control. It may hurt you in the sense that your app is completed and therefore read a bit later when all the adcom members are a bit more harried and sleep-deprived but...karma.
