Closest airport

Visiting Santa Clara and would like to know closest airport and what area to stay in.

Thanks

SJC - San Jose “International” airport

It’s right next to SCU, sort of :)

San Jose Airport is closer to SCU than SFO. You can fly on Southwest Airlines from Long Island to San Jose Airport. The Silicon Valley is not than vast so if you have a car you can stay wherever you can get the best deal. Downtown is depressing so I’d avoid that area. What else are you interested in seeing while in NorCal?

sorry, just realized there is San Jose Airport close by. Can fly jet blue or southwest. Thanks. Where is a nice town to stay? Or just stay in San Francisco? We prefer nice little towns. I find San Francisco a little overwhelming.

I wouldn’t stay in SF unless you plan to tour the SF area. It’s at least an hour away from SCU. Do you have other plan when you’re in N. Calif? It depends on where else you want to see. But seriously, Silicon Valley has nothing much to see. So if you only plan on visiting SCU, you can just stay nearby.

If you want to shop designer and have restaurants, cafes, nearby stay at the Hotel Valencia at Santana Row. It’s like the Americana Mall in Manhasset, NY but more European in layout and vibe. The rest of Silicon Valley is boring and all business.

sounds nice but will only be able to “window shop” if it’s like the Miracle Mile (Americana) in Manhasset! Have to save money for college tuitions! I will look at all of our options. And thanks for quick replies.

If you are visiting the SCU campus, absolutely fly into San Jose. It is ten minutes from the SCU campus. There is a free shuttle bus from the airport to the transportation center across the street from the main entrance to the SCU campus. I believe it’s the number 10 bus, but I could be wrong.

I’m sending you a PM about where to stay in Santa Clara.

You can also stay in Los Gatos to get the charming town experience. It’s 10-15 minutes away from SCU and you can window shop in downtown LG.

If you are looking for a city feel, check out San Jose and stay in one of the hotels there.

There’s also a museum called “The Tech Museum” downtown San Jose you can visit if you’d like.

I would go with Santana Row as a place to be as well since there are stores you can buy stuff at. There’s also a mall in the same area valled Valley Fair, which will have stores like forever 21 and affordable stuff.

I would definitely not stay in a hotel near SCU because there isn’t much in Santa Clara, except a movie theater, oh and a theme park called “great america”

Agree with other posters - San Fran is about an hour away from San Jose. You can also take the local transportaion (train: caltrain) to visit san fran and other cities along the way.

Palo Alto! Take caltrain 20 minutes north into downtown university ave, super nice area with tons of good food/shopping and stanford is right there as well :)
