I was recently assigned to a Rieber Hall triple...are two of us gunn have to share a closet...and if so is there room to bring either a fridge or a small something to keep the rest of my clothes in? do triples really suck that badly..o and MY MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION..how's the rieber party/social scene?

I too am in a triple at Rieber Hall. I didn't realize there was a possibility that there would only be 2 closets for 3 people. Hmmm confirm/deny?

When I visited, the triple dorm in Dystra had three closets. I might be wrong.

ok so this is what i heard...apparently the two people who share the bunk get the 2 closets and the person who gets the elevated bed gets a sort of chest of drawers under the bed and the desk is under the bed too i guess..here's my plan: get there first and get the closet even if you have to sleep in the bunk
ps-sorry to my future roomates...even though my plan probably won't work considering im coming all the way from ny

A triple isn't as bad as it sounds (and this year, many of you freshies will have triples because of the shut-down-for-construction of a reshall where most second-years opt to go). There is plenty enough closet space, but not so much floor space.

Triples are the same size as doubles, but include a loft-style bed, a bunk bed, three tables, and one free-standing closet. There are two 'clothes closets' in the wall as well as two closets with a set of drawers and a mirror for those foldable clothes. You'll have to work out who gets what. The one left with the free-standing closet might have the worst end of the stick, as they don't have a connceting set of drawers, so sharing is a must (give them the underside bed storage drawers of the bunk bed).

There is enough room for a fridge and a TV (but only one of each), but you might have to shift the furniture around. Talk with your future roommates and make it work. :)

i think that diff rooms have diff layouts...
the rieber vista room i was in for orientation had 2 freestanding wardrobes, 1 shorter wardrobe under the lofted bed with the desk under it, 2 standalone desks, 2 chests of drawers (3 drawers each) and 2 drawers under the bunk beds.
if you want measurements of the furniture, i'll post them later.
yes i'm a freak lol.

not a freak...just very, very informed :p

couldn't have put it better myself!

hey liyana...does the housing website lists the dimensions for the furnitures/dorms? or did you get the measurements elsewhere?

is there enough room to bring a filing cabinet

ek111: Go to the ask housing of the Housing website. There is Q&A about the measurements of the closet and drawer. there is a lot of info there.

thanks momca25!

when i was at orientation i had a measuring tape with me.
hence why i said i was a freak...

If you're in a triple, there definitely isn't room for a filling cabinent. Also to the original poster, the third person will have a stand-alone wardrobe closet. I couldn't imagine having to share one of the closets in Rieber with another person. They definitely aren't big enough for that.

lol....measuring tape...that was the last thing on my mind

but, nonetheless, a good idea liyana :D

lol thanks ;)

oh and if anyone is curious (or just too lazy to look it up hehe) here's what i measured (again, triple room in rieber vista)

wardrobe under the desk: 34.5 in wide x 55 in tall x 24 in deep

standalone wardrobe: same but 58 in tall

desk drawers: 13 in wide x 4.5 tall (2) and 8.5 tall (1)

desk shelf: 38 in wide
(12 in to first shelf, 10 in to second)

chest of drawers (3 drawers): 28 in wide x 7-8 in tall x 22 deep

under bunk bed drawers (2 drawers): 38 in wide x 6 in tall x 24 in deep

vertical space under bunk bed: 17 in (i don't think that included ledge thingy so subtract a couple)

and there ya have it folks... why liyana is crazy...

Wow... good job!

You are right, there are different types of furniture in the different types of dorms... :)

The normal reshalls have the furniture I listed on page one and the suites/plazas have the furniture that liyana posted.

The reshalls are: Hedrick Hall, Rieber Hall, Dykstra, and Sproul (which no one is living in).
The plazas/suites are: De Neve Plaza, Hedrick Summit, Rieber Vista, Rieber Terrace, Sunset Village.

On another note.... you guys got to stay in Rieber Vista for orientation?! Oh my, classy, classy. :P When I went we stayed at Sproul, where the bathrooms are down the hall instead of connected to the rooms. Hahaha. The real dorm life. ;) I love it.

Just be aware that if you're staying in a reshall, your furniture and room will be different than the nice plazas and suites and you'll have to walk down the hall half-naked (if you wanted to anyway) to go to take a shower. :)

Hopefully you guys get the nice side of the reshalls.... the one with individual changing rooms (Hedrick North, Rieber South... don't know about the others...). Bring shower shoes!

shower shoes you mean just slippers right? am i the only one here looking forward to the trips to the shower half naked? haha

There are actual shower shoes shoes (or slippers rather) that look like abrasive sponges.
