closet space

i have alot of clothes and shoes.... im a clothes freak and a sneaker freak. i change clothes about 3 or 4 times a day. i know its ridiculous but i was wondering how much closet space do dorms give to students

Not enough. I could barely get my 25 polo shirts and 15 pairs of pants into one.

"i change clothes about 3 or 4 times a day"

Are you a chick?

Most college closets are about the same size as a closet in a normal home. They can accomodate a lot of clothes, but not a ton. If you need space for shoes, you could just use the area under your bed or something, or make due with what you have.

if you have a lot of seasonal clothes, this shouldn't be the hugest deal, bc you can just switch out stuff as it's not needed. however, if you have a ton of clothes that you actually wear all the time, trust me when i say that you will FIND space if you want them there badly enough. honestly.

:S closets in the US are small....so i'm wondering how the ones in the dorms will be...smaller? :S

..you won't be walking into it, that's for sure ;)

i guess most ppl use storage boxes under their beds to keep off season clothes right?

they do that, or if they live w/in driving distance they can transfer seasonal clothes as needed

w t f? Who has that many clothes, anyway? Just keep it all in your closet. You'll be fine.

Space is very limited. Not all rooms even have closets; some just have dressers and wardrobes.

You change clothes in the middle of the day? Three of four times? I can understand if maybe you spill something on yourself, but I suppose if you don't mind doing all of that laundry, not to mention paying for all of that laundry, then it's your prerogative, but I'd have to do laundry twice a week as opposed to once every two weeks. The college laundry room is a steamy, hellish, dungeon of a place; if I were you, I'd try to get it down to two outfits a day. My dorm room has three drawers, a desk, shelves, and a closet (probably 2 ft by 4 ft or so).

Laundry cost on that amount of clothes will be huge! You really should get it down to one pair of clothes a day before college (unless you work out alot then i could see 2 pairs a day). If you dont then you will have to shell out about $2 a load to do laundry and that adds up fast (i know some places are more expensive and some less.....).

$2 a load? Thats cheap! I think mine costs like double that... it also sucks to fold clothes.

As for closets... you'd be shocked how much you can fit in them. Don't forget an iron or steamer, though. Some things that you may normally hang up may have to be folded and you'll want to get the wrinkles out. IMO steamers are better than using an iron because the small ironing boards suck.

Mine will cost $2 total for a load (wash & dry).
How often do you actually use your steamer anovice? I'm not sure if it's worth bringing, since 95% of my stuff has never had to be ironed/steamed before.

I shared a closet (and a bedroom smaller than my dorm room) with my sister before I came here, so I thought the place was spacious...not so for my one-sibling roommate. Our closets are about 3/4 size, and we also have a chest of 5 drawers. Other than that, I use under the bed storage. However, other dorms only have a small, less than 3-feet wide wardrobe that isn't even full height...so call/email ahead and ask what you'll have in your room assignment.
