Closets

I was wondering what they look like. I know it sounds sort of ridiculous but is it big? And how much does it go in...I was wondering about this b/c I wanted to know if I can fit inside it or something...maybe to change or keep belongings in that I can easily walk into. (I'm sorry, I sound so weird.)

It didnt look very big from the pics.

what dorm are you talking about? Chances are there will be CLOTHES in your closet, preventing you from doing whatever you are planning on doing in it yourself. I lived in Century, and had a walk in closet. But--the dorms have nowhere near that much space. AND-if you are so modest that you aren't even comfortable changing in front of someone else, then let me suggest that you make sure you don't request a dorm with common floor bathrooms!

Do ppl change in common floor bathrooms? Where do people change after they shower?

I visited campus today and saw the closets in Birnkrant and New/North...they were a lot bigger than I expected (I was expecting something really tiny) but far from big enough to change in. My guess is that most girls (and a good 50% of guys) will have it full to the brim.

I know I will. I am very fortunate to have a double closet, roughly 12 ft wid. About half of the hanging stuff goes, Crap!

They take a shower, and then walk back to their room in a towel or robe...then, they change in their rooms (not in the closet). If their roommate happens to catch a glimpse every now and then, oh well.

thanks. i'll be sure to buy myself a bathrobe. I don't mind that the other person is in the room but wouldn't it be weird to be completely naked in front of the roommate while changing?

As an ex-hippie who lived in co-ed communes I am used to this...

Keeping on your loose robe put on your "bottoms". Turn your back, then take off the robe and put on your tops. All your roomate will ever see (if they even bother looking) is a bare back.

You probably won't even care much about it after a few weeks...as I remember my freshman year, we all started out the year fairly modest. At century it's a private bathroom and they do have walk in closets, so at first we kept ourselves guarded. After a few weeks we got much more comfortable around each other and stopped being so modest. I never really saw my roommates bottomless (I had 3 roommates, in a 2 br) but there was a lot of toplessness in my apartment. It was just too much of a hassle to care who saw you change.

Of course, I also walked in on different roommates hooking up with guys in the living room on more than one occasion, so maybe we just weren't that shy of a group!

The robe thing works well, as does taking your underwear with you to the shower, that way you can put it on after you dry off while still in the stall. If you do get a robe, you can just put your skivvies in the pocket of the robe while you are actually showering.

thanks. this is some good pre-college advice. how did you carry all your shower stuff? in a basket?

"how did you carry all your shower stuff? in a basket?"

Jesus christ. Haha, why can't you carry your underwear, shampoo, and soap (whatever) in your hands? This isn't rocket science. ;)

lol. sorry, i just don't want to be lacking anything that I need when I move in. I just want to fit in since I'm nervous that the first couple of weeks is crucial for me to get along with everyone.

Actually, most people do have shower baskets. Girls tend to take a little more stuff with them to the shower, masterg. ;-) Carrying shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a loofah, a razor, shave gel, and a comb or brush in just your hands, would be a little difficult.

I was thining a basket verus my toletry bag.. but how are the bathrooms in the suites, do you neeed to keep your stuff in your room, or can it stay in the bathroom

what an awesome thread.

True, true. My bad! :)

...
Silly women.

I think your best bet is to get some surgery...im not really sure if the "enlargement" pills work well, though i get them in my email box a lot.
