hey, just curious what everyone wears at college, and what types of clothes to bring.

socks and underwears

i live in a university town, and often see people naked. perhaps you shouldnt bring cloths.

Jeans, t-shirts, hoodies. Why does everyone think that you dress differently for college? Here's a secret: you can wear the same t-shirt or flip-flops that you wore in HS and no one will be able to tell.

What frostburg said. Nobody really cares if you wear what you wore in high school. I still wear shirts with my high school name/sports teams, and nobody cares. Sweatpants are always a plus, for lounging around and class here and there. I didn't buy any new clothes before coming to college--except some shirts and hoodies with my college's name. Oh, and bring underwear. Can't forget the underwear ;)

I'm not surprised people are worried about this, though.

There's always posters on here who are all, "OMG, don't wear Abercrombie - people will think you're stuck in high school!"

I mean...I like Abercrombie :D.

i brought pretty much everything from high school, except stuff that didnt fit anymore or just looked like crap...i bought a few new tanks, a few nice tops, and a some long-sleeved stuff since i'm in the mountains of VA (even though its 67 right now....we've had a seriously freaky heat wave since christmas basically in VA)

just make sure you have weather appropriate clothes, you don't want to be the cali kid that everyone laughs at because you go to school in colorodo and all you have are a couple pairs of flipflops and shorts.

and bring at least one formal outfit (and you only need one if you're a guy, if you're a girl...idk, it seems like most girls have several formal outfits)

check the book by the five gay men, they have a list of clothing that every men should own. But i think their tastes are quite preppy.

A formal suite and a couple dress shirts. Trust me you'll thank me for it.

Abercombie is not a college style, it's a prepy style. If you aren't preppy then no one will expect you to wear Abercrombie.

what do u mean by preppy?

Abercrombie is commonly called a preppy look, but if you want preppy look at the kids at the private schools (mainly out East)--not a slam on them or anything, just saying--who wear khakis and polos or button up shirts everyday. 'Preppy' comes from 'Preparatory'...as in a private preparatory school. I don't have anything against A&F or against anyone wearing it at college-wear what you want. Just my opinion about 'preppy'.

Are you talking about those guys?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PTU2He2BIc0

LMAO

Thank you betterday and frenchdude for knowing what I'm talking about...I try explaining it to people at my school who think preppy is A&F/Hollister and they look at me like "okay...whatever..." Oh well. I'll just stick to my sweatpants, Nike, hoodies, and t-shirts :)

GREAT video!

hahha nice. I personally done like to pop my collar that much. I like to tone it down a little, maybe JCREW type.

Wow, that could pretty much be my neighborhood. Except that whole look was soooo last year ;). That's more like what the neighborhood moms/dads wear.

I don't think you'll see that kind of prep anywhere. I mean, old money is still fashionable. Hahaha.

So it's always kind of annoying when people are like "OMG, SEVEN JEANS IS NOT PREP" and then they go straight to the dictionary definition. Kids still buy into stupid trends like skinny black emo jeans and huge sunglasses. Even if they're rich and going to a prep school. So I think it's understandable that the definition of prep has kind of expanded just to mean "well off and popular". Or just plain popular...
