I'm in need of some clothes (I told you people that I couldn't do my own washing and keep the colors intacts- I told you!). I lost my two favorite hoodies and was wondering what the nearest clothes shore to the school with a decent selection at non eye-stabbing prices?

Why would you go to a store in Morningside? Do you not have a metrocard and 1.5 hours of time to go to Macy's or something (1 down to 34th)?

American Apparel on Broadway just north of 110th.

Urban Outfitters, 72nd & Bway.

Banana Republic, 86th & Bway.

Club Monaco, 86th & Bway.

Patagonia, 82nd & Bway.

H & M, W 125th St.

Barney's, 76th & Bway.

I don't really like the stores on that list. American Apparel...hiss.

Is Macy's pretty affordable? Just get off two stations after Time Square and then...where do I go?

^You can find affordable things there, but most stuff is pretty pricey.

Get on the 1, transfer to the 2/3 at 72nd, and get off at Penn Station (34th). Macy's is on the corner of 7th and 34th.

go to target?

I've never heard anyone refer to Macy's as "pricey." Everything there is always on sale, it seems.

i agree with C02...there are always sales and they hand out tons of coupons so you can get some pretty good deals there

y the hell would u do that?

either you transfer to the 2/3 at 96th or you just stay on the 1 until 34th

century 21 and syms also have very good deals but its hit or miss with them

Well, stores are pretty rare in NYC.. Gonna be hard, Im sorry. Cant you just order stuff on the internet?

I went to century 21 and it was incredibly disappointing. 99% of the clothes consists of digusting 90's stuff and the things that are remotely nice are expensive anyways.
I would go to Macy's and pay a visit to the H&M across the street from it while you're there.

^^^Yea, I meant 96th. I used to take the m72 across town and then pick up the 2/3 there, so I got confused.

GuiltyBystander - are you being sarcastic? I hope so.

Columbia02 - I've found that the Macy's in Herald Square is pricier than the Macy's I used to go to at home, but it IS the flagship Macy's. Besides, like you said, it's easy to find stuff on sale there, and I still shop there all the time.

I don't see why you'd transfer to the 2/3 at either 96th or 72nd -- the time you may spend waiting for a 2/3 you might as well take the extra stops on the 1. Well, maybe not. Depends on the time of day. The 2/3 only skips two stops that the 1 makes between 72nd and 34th (66th and 50th).

There are Gaps and Old Navies in New York, too. There's an Old Navy on 34th between 6th and 7th, and a Gap at 34th and Broadway and 42nd and Broadway.

The 2/3 skips 2 stops between 96th and 72nd and 3 stops between 72nd and 34th (86th, 79th, 66th, 59th, 50th). There's also a stop at 91st that is no longer in use on that line....I know way too much about the subway.

new yorkers are always in a rush so anything that would save a few minutes is always a good thing. noone is suggesting waiting for the express at like 11pm but during rush hours they come quite often.

old navy is horrible

Go to Fifth/Madison in the 50's. You'll find everything from Banana Republic to Bergdorf Goodman.

Because it's in NYC. Getting Advil at Rite Aid in NYC is more expensive than in your hometown, and not because there's a flagship Rite Aid.

Everyone at Columbia knwos this.

it's nyc! they will have everything... just go to your favorite store's website and go to the store locator to see where the nearest one is and im sure they will have one near you, or something similar... otherwise.. you can pick up 10 of the I heart NY tshirts/sweatshirts for about $10.. you'll look quite fashionable ;)

"Go to Fifth/Madison in the 50's. You'll find everything from Banana Republic to Bergdorf Goodman."

This be good advice.

And who knew so many guys could talk about clothing stores this much? :P

I'm just fine with American Apparel, H&M, and Urban. The Holy Trinity serves all purposes. If I need a cute outfit fast then it's H&M. Something comfy for class or whatever then go American Apparel. If you're willing to shell out some cash then go to Urban they have the best ****. Of Course I still wouldn't doubt there are a few good underground stores, or vintage shops.

Approaches the fire with a canister of oil....

To each his own, I suppose. For me it's more.....if you need something bland, and ridiculously overpriced right out of Hipster Quaterly go to American Apparel (I really hate that place) or UO. H&M for Gossip Girl metrosexuality (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Use - The - Internet

You obviously have a very selective taste so just buy it online, it's going to be cheaper and closer than anywhere else.
