CLT or CAE airport to campus

In anticipation of S coming home for Thanksgiving, I see there are many more flight options from Charlotte than Columbia. But I can't see any public transportation from Charlotte airport to Columbia.
Anyone have any experience with this?
thanks.

I looked into this last year for the same reason. I called several offices at USC including the Visitors Center and found that there are no shuttles to CLT from Columbia.

D has friends who live in CLT or were driving through but schedules never worked out well last year.

It really would be nice if there was some sort of organized transportation around the major breaks for OOS students to get to CLT because there are so many more flight options and better prices.

theres no public transport to CLT and its 90 minutes away.As eadad says, maybe the kid can pick up a ride with someone going through or to Charlotte.
The only way to the CAE airport is cab or a ride from friend as well.Columbia/USC is sorely lacking in transportation alternatives(one of the only faults we've found with the school/town).
USAirways runs frequent flights through and to CLT from CAE if thats any help for you.

thanks.
I know there is a "club" for out of state students (mentioned at Scholars Day). If I can get my S to join, maybe they can band together and
work on transportation to the airports at break times.

That's a great idea. I have been trying to get my D to do the same thing.....maybe we can push a little and get some results. At UNC where my son goes to school, the OOS Student's Assn sponsors shuttles and other transportation to the RDU airport on major breaks.

cancob...I've never heard or seen mentioned an out of state students club at USC.S has made so many friends from all over ,most of whom have cars there, getting rides to/from the local airport or shopping needs hasnt been a problem...an inconvenience yes,but a problem,no.Don't worry your S wont be left high and dry.
As a matter of fact, S is returning from home to school on Sunday to take a Maymester travel class, but has to stay 2 nights before the bus leaves. He has a friend to pick him up from the airport and has a place to stay in someones off campus apt (right on the edge of the campus). Its not a problem for them ,they make friends fast and easily, and everyone helps each other out.

“Columbia Charlotte Shuttle” -Fantastic
I would just like to send an endorsement of this company. With all of the craziness during the weekend of 3/14, due to the Northeast winter weather, our child was able to phone in and connect with the shuttle company to arrange a ride back to campus from Charlotte (not the original flight plan!)which got him back to campus with more than enough time to spare for some sleep and a full day of classes on Monday, 3/15. The company was gracious enough to give me a call to say that they had spoken with our child and all would be fine. Thank you from a New Jersey family to the Columbia Charlotte Shuttle- #803-783-5123. Please try them if you have not yet!
