Club and intramural sports at Pitt

Can anyone point me to a link about club and/or intramural sports at Pitt? All I could find was information about the D1 sports. S is interested in a premed track and would like to remain active in one or both of his varsity sports (swimming and water polo) without the big time commitment that a D1 program would require. Thanks.

This might be it…

Thanks, DonnaMom. For some reason College Board seems to think that Pitt offers intramural swimming (and club water polo) but this link doesn’t list swimming as an intramural program. Maybe College Board’s information is outdated and there’s no swimming outside the D1 program :frowning: I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for water polo…

There could be a club team. My son is going to join the Fencing Club, but it is not an intramural.

Maybe they have something like that?

There is definitely an active men’s and women’s water polo club team. I don’t think there is a swimming club team though, but if not, there are surely swimming clubs throughout the city that are not university related.

Water Polo Club: http://www.sorc.pitt.edu/search/orgSearch.asp?ID=928&search=type&orgTypePick=10

Here’s a search page for other Pitt Clubs: http://www.sorc.pitt.edu/search/orgSearch.asp

So actually, its not a student club, but Team Pittsburgh is a competitive swimming & diving club affiliated with the Pitt Swimming & Diving team and also based at Pitt’s facilities at Trees Pool. Here’s the link:

That might be a good place to start at least, and if its not the right type of club team, they could perhaps direct to others.

Thanks, wgmcp101, that helpful information. Sounds like he would have good options to stay active. Also, it’s great that practices for both water polo and swimming would be on campus.
