Club Issue: Nerdy or Awesome???

So for all of you who have seen the movie Role Models, and probably some of you that haven't, you know about LAIRE. Live Action Interactive Role-playing Explorers (also known as LARP). My dilemma is that I am king and co-founder of my school's LAIRE club. Should I put this on apps to top 20 colleges? Will this make me seem interesting or nerdy? Is it worth the risk?

Thanks in advance for all input. I'm interested to see what kind of response this gets!

Don’t do it.

Come to Phoenix Comicon.

plug, but it’s going to be amazing this year, and there are usually gamers/game rooms.

I suppose you could put it down, if you wanted. I wrote about being a geek on one of my essays, and if I get rejected because of it, I probably wouldn’t want to go to that school anyways.

It’s up to you though.

Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t this like asking whether you should/shouldn’t put FLBA down because it’s too business-y?

If you’re proud of it and think you contributed to the club, put it down.

If you had responsibilities and if you significantly contributed to your school by running this club, put it down. If not, don’t.

I wrote about extremely nerdy stuff in my essay. Then again, I’m applying to schools like U Chicago…

I don’t think being nerdy is really going to HURT your application. Definitely put it on the app.

Just be you. Colleges are looking for all sorts of people and anything that makes you stand out as unique, as long as you have the scores and gpa, is a good thing…The world of higher education gets geekier and geekier the higher you go! If you do real, authentic applications and represent yourself as clearly as you possibly can, you have the absolute best chance of ending up at the college YOU will most enjoy.

OK, so since I already have a plethora of ECs, I’m leaning towards not putting it. Any more opinions, though? I don’t want to let this go quite yet.

I think you should put it on, especially if it is something that you are interested and committed to because it sounds like a very unique and creative club. But in the end, it IS up to you, and if you don’t want to be perceived a certain way, then don’t put it on.

OT, but where is the “neither” option?
