does anyone have any information about joining the women's club soccer team? how difficult is it to get on the team and when do you try out? and how often/long are practices/games? thanks in advance :)

o ya im interested too
thing is, im a total n00b - how competitive yea?
anyone know anything about w's rugby also?
and field hockey that as well
ditto prev poster's questions

ucla rec website has like NOTHING about both . . . :(

I know nothing about the rugby or fh.

BUT

I know the club soccer team is pretty competitive. Going by what I heard from friends at Cal (which is obv not UCLA, but should be similar enough), there were about 80 girls that tried out last year and what, 18-20 make the team? Their club women's team is ranked in the top-10 in the country fairly regularly, and I'd assume UCLA is similar. But I've also heard that commitment-wise, it's pretty low-key. You practice a few days a week, have games/tourneys on weekends, etc. TONS of fun from what I've heard. And who knows if the girls trying out have only played a year of high school, or several years of club. So it's not like you're going up against all-americans lol. So I'd assume if you're a decent player then it's worth checking out. And let me know if you do. I'm booked for time this year, but might fun in the future! Good luck!!!!!

Edit: ironically, I googled UCLA women's club soccer, and there was an article in the daily Bruin about it TODAY! So, check it out if you wish: The Daily Bruin - Watch women?s club soccer for entertainment, cheap food

oh cool thanks! i've played 10 seasons of both club and high school soccer so i will definitely check it out. sounds tough though :P

Yep, some of their girls come out to midnight futbol too. PM me if you're interested.

wats midnight futbol?????

street ball baby.

On the 23rd I think...at 12pm on the IM there is a big thing for all club sports....I know this because I play for the rugby team despite not going to UCLA...something to do with intent to transfer! Anyway head along and I bet the club stuff will be there. Womens Rugby is pretty competitive as I'm pretty sure its gone NCAA. Although I think they have open JV.

^^i dont think womens rugby is an NCAA sanctioned sport...unless something has changed in the last year. Cuz I know mens isnt varsity anywhere, only club.

check UCLA Women's Club Soccer

thank you so much! :)

Untitled Women's im sure is NCAA...it got in because of the requirement of having equal sporting opportunities for women in NCAA sanctioned sport. Mens is club but since they have a 1st XV and a 2nd XV they refer to them as Varsity and JV despite not being an NCAA sport although it is on the list of emerging sports so we might see it as one in the next few years.

****. i just realized that the first day of tryouts clashes with one of my discussion sections -_- what should i do?

i believe tryouts are in the afternoon around 5pm, so unless you have a class at that time then you have no option but to go to class.

yeah it's from 4:30 to 7 and my discussion section is from 4-5:50. ****ttt

what class is it? you should check to see if you can go to an alternative section - just talk to to your TA.

it's hist1a. thanks i'll try that :) except..it will be my first discussion session. so i will not even know my TA at that point haha.

ahh, it should be short then.. or it usually is the first time around since you haven't covered much material, try to e-mail the prof to get the TA's e-mail and send 'em one to just ask if you can bounce out early or something.

okay thanks so much :)

Come after class
