I've been playing volleyball for almost 2 years now, and I really wanted to continue playing it in college. My main question for you is how competitive is it? Meaning, how difficult is it to make the team?

I’m not sure about volleyball, but it is probably pretty competitive since it’s a popular sport. There are some people who have been playing volleyball for a much longer time that will be trying out as well. (My friend who is going to the Penn next year has been playing volleyball since elementary school, and she will be trying out for club too.)

I only know about Tennis, but my friend two years ago was trying out for the tennis team and there were about 30-40+ people trying out. They were all vying for an extremely limited amount of open spots on the team. My friend was first singles and won city champs a lot, but she did not get into the team.

I don’t want to scare you or anything, but this is just let you know that you should practice hard and be extremely on top of your game when you try out for next year. :)

I wouldn’t say that it is that difficult. You can play at a variety of levels at UPenn, and if you’re referring to true “Club Volleyball,” rather than Intercollegiate (NCAA), it wouldn’t be hard at all. They have a few practices, and the team requires a little practice, but it isn’t rigorous. Nearly everyone can play, because club implies a level beneath Varsity.
