What clubs or activities do people suggest joining on campus for a freshman in search of community service opportunities?

Alternative Spring Break is a great organization–you go somewhere in the US (one trip went to Peru, on to SF, LA, South Dakota, Key West, Appalachia, Chicago, NYC, and others) and spend a week doing service learning. There is also Circle K and Habitat for Humanity…

You can also check out stars.umd.edu and search for community service groups. There are probably a lot.

Thanks for the input! The Alternative Spring Break trip sounds really great. Plus I think Circle K is affiliated with Key Club, which I did during high school and always really liked.
