Clubs for student starting at UA in spring semester?

Any suggestions for clubs that would be welcoming for my somewhat shy daughter, who will be starting at UA in the spring? It would seem that by that point in the year, most people will have formed friendships and it might be a bit hard to ‘break in’ to the social groupings by then.

Is she religious? into sports? chess? Poetry?

Take a look at this link and click on “student organization directory”. It’s only a partial list so far and there will be many more clubs & organizations listed on there by the time school starts. There are over 30K students at UA from all walks of life. She’ll find friends.

^^^ Many clubs like Casino pointed out.

There is a “Get on Board Day” in the spring just like in the fall. All the clubs should be represented. My D joined a club in the fall but had trouble making the meetings as they conflicted with a class. In the spring there was no conflict of schedule. She was welcomed as a member. So I don’t see that you will have any trouble getting into clubs in the spring. Good luck and Roll Tide!!!

You specifically pointed out that your D is shy. What did she do in high school? Dance, sing, volunteer? There are clubs and one time outings for all of these talents. She will find her way.

Thank you for your encouraging words and I will pass along that link. In high school she had her own little niche, but it’s daunting going away to college where she knows no one. She also didn’t do much of anything in high school, at any rate she doesn’t want to continue in band and didn’t really participate in anything else, so there’s nothing to seek out when she arrives on campus.

Thanks again!
