I was just wondering but how important are clubs/extracurricular activ on a college resume ?

Where are you planning on applying? For what major?

At holistic admission schools, your out-of-class involvements help you build up a story that lets the college determine what you’d contribute to the student body- so it matters a ton. Specifically, they look at what you did with your time instead of just how many clubs you were in (so quality over quantity). At competitive programs like Berkeley EECS, they also look for demonstrated interest in your field- so being heavily involved in, say, hackathons is a good way to demonstrate not only your capabilities but what you’d offer the school and the student body. There’s a lot of schools, though, that focus heavily/mainly/entirely on stats (this does not include anyone in the top 25 to my knowledge; generally the smaller state flagships for in-state applicants + secondary/tertiary/etc. state schools). The weight of ECs varies between schools.

It depends on the college. They don’t offset test scores or grades that are not up to par for the college. But at some colleges they are considered. I think most state universities do not care much if at all. Liberal arts colleges care some. Can you be more specific about what clubs/ECs and what colleges you are thinking about?

i have taken
B.E.S.T robotics club - 1st place in state
B.E.S.T robotics club - 2nd place in central America

2nd national chess in my division
25th international chess in my division
photography club i guess…
math team/club

Those are fine ECs. Probably not Ivy league quality, though, if that is what you are looking for. What colleges do you have in mind? Are you international needing a lot of financial aid?
