My friend applying ED to JHU got an email yesterday saying, according to him, the name of the financial aid officer he'll have 'for the next year.' He is excited that this means he was accepted. I'm not so sure. Have any of you heard of this happening? What do you think it means? We all thought he would be rejected or deferred.

Who can say? Has he contacted the FA officer? I mean this is like the kids who get a letter of rejection one day and the next a letter or packet soliciting an application....hurtful for sure.

If I were your friend I wouldn't get my hopes up over something like that.

It means nothing, and actually there is no such email that is sent. An email is sent from the financial aid once a fin aid application is processed with an ID number and a link to the fin aid webpage where one can get contact information for the counselors.

The whole context of the "story" in your post is sketchy.

No final decisions have been made yet!!! All EDs will hear on December 15th -- no earlier! (And no clue emails will be sent)
