Clueless.

I'm doing 12th commerce, CBSE.
And I have no idea where I'm going. I don't know who to ask or what to do so I've come to you.
Okay, so I'll tell you a little about myself and hopefully you could give me some advice.
Grades:
10th: 9.2 (CBSE)
11th: 77% (it was a bad year.)
12th: pending but i expect it to be in the 82-87% range. (the year has barely started.)

I'm good at reading, remembering and rewriting things (which is basically what everyone who goes to school knows how to do.) I'm not a hard worker. When it comes to actually learning things like Math or Accounts, sometimes I give it my all and do really well but a lot of times I just don't try.

I like English and Math. And I've recently taken a liking to Economics.

Unrelated to education, I watch lots of tv and genuinely enjoy doing so and I like watching cult movies because I like feeling like I'm a part of something. I like singing and drawing and I want to be a marathon runner when I grow up and I'm training for that.

I want to be self sustaining as soon as possible. Everything that'll lead me to this goal is an option I will consider. But I can't pick something that'll require a crazy amount of hard work and dedication because I know I won't always want to work hard and I might just not care enough. I need to pick something I'd care about.

This whole thing is quite ambiguous. Do ask questions if you want to. Help.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, point me in the right direction if it is?

Uve just written down what we all we all want.Little work Lots of money. But unfortunately that doesnt happen.
Anyway in 12th you should be absolutely sure about your field of interest coz u wont make it far if u dont like what u r doing.SO, best of luck figuring that out.

I disagree. If the OP is applying to US universities, they can take advantage of the liberal arts education prevalent in many schools that will enable them to apply as an undecided major. Once in, they can explore their options and settle on a major of interest.

Don’t you have an adviser of some sort ? You could start there .

It seems that the OP is confused about selection of a program in Indian schools, as I believe you all apply to college a bit later than US or Canadian students due to board scores. Additionally, in order to apply abroad, the OP would now have to take a gap year, which I would be against since not only will OP waste money but also waste time. In your application, few if any things stand out. Therefore, scholarship chances would be low.

It is true that you can go into a liberal college in the US and explore whether you prefer the sciences or the arts (or both). However, the same could be done at engineering colleges here (which also have the liberal college component usually attached), with a little bit more restrictions. For example, if you go into chemical engineering and you decide to double major in chemistry/biomedical engineering, you can do that but it may take 5 years instead of the traditional 4.

When relating this to Indian schools, freedom to move around is not possible. Therefore, get someone knowledgeable about commerce. You have not shared what your interests are and what subjects you enjoy. All you have described is someone who lays around like it’s summer. Get used to life and stop dreaming…
I don’t know how much of help the bottom links may be, but it could get you started on what is out there through a commerce 12th year education:

^Just wanted to add I agree with Liveulife posts.
To the OP: A lot of students feel that way…unfortunately there is NO easy way. Even people who make a LOT of money in movies/arts - they work hard at it. I would encourage you to just stick with your commerce college options in India and you will figure out your interests in the coming years.

Welcome back after a long time, Liveulife :)

This post is just a shout-out to a '15er.

Thanks, and congratulations on your acceptance :)
