Clusters Writing II Requirement

I read that if you take a GE cluster, it fulfills the Writing II requirement. However, I still have to take Writing I. So am I allowed to enroll in a cluster? If I am, what writing credit do I get?

yes finish a writing I class by end of winter quarter and you'll be good to receive writing II from a cluster.

Yes, clusters fulfill the writing II req. You'll be fine as long as you take the Eng Comp 3 to satisfy writing I before the end of your first year. If you don't, I believe you won't get credit for writing II.

What namaste and ckings says except that you must have completed EngComp3 by the end of Winter quarter. Otherwise, you won't get any writing credit at all from the cluster. The reason why because Writing I is a "prereq" to Writing II and the Writing II credit is given for the Spring quarter of the cluster.

about the writing II req, as I understand it you can take two writing approved classes (W), take a full year cluster, or take a seminar. What's the seminar classes?

I think the seminar is a separate requirement, unless I'm mistaken. I don't think that the Writing II requirement can be fulfilled with a seminar.

Seminar and Writing II are indeed separate requirements. However, you are allowed to take an additional Writing II course instead of a seminar.

This is where a GE Cluster shines! It takes care of both.
