CMC ED 1 Class of 2023

Dual Major in Economics Accounting and Religious Studies

IB: 40/45
SAT: 1510 (780 M ; 730 CRW)
SAT II: 800 Math ; 800 Chemistry
AP: 5 Micro ; 5 Macro ; 3 Calc AB

Did research in Bitcoin and economies of my state. Wrote 2 research papers on the same topic. School Soccer Captain. Won numerous awards and trophies. Led my school’s annual fest which helped raise $32,500 for charity. Incharge of my school’s business and economics fest. Around 200 hours of community work where I taught children in rural India. Vice-head of the MIT Launch Club in my school. I also run a peer tutor network in my school.

Got some really good recommendations from my teachers. I’ll give all three at least an 8/10, possibly more.
Essays were OK. Not that happy with my common app but it talks about how I’ve been in boarding school since 4th grade and how it’s affected the relationship with my family. CMC supplement was good but nothing extraordinary.

The Alumni Interview went well and I felt like I left a really good impression on the interviewer.
I have sibling legacy at CMC. My sister graduated this year in 2018. (She also majored in Economics Accounting)

Rejected :frowning:

Rejected

I’m awestruck. That doesn’t make sense. @burrowsc

@oceantriumph SAT score was definetly too low. Probably should’ve done a couple internships related to my Major. It’s all good. Waiting to hear from UCLA, Berkeley, USC, UC San Diego, Pepperdine, UC Irvine and others

@burrowsc You’ll go somewhere great don’t worry. Thanks for keeping me company here

@oceantriumph Good Luck at CMC, you definetly deserve to be there.

I think it’s so competitive this year in general . So many people from my school got rejected everywhere.

Rejected :frowning: Almost definitely as a result of my test-scores; at least Oxford is quite likely for me at this point and U-Chicago is test-flexible! Well done all who got in!!!

@oceantriumph think it’s worth giving them a call on Monday? I know the decision is final but would like to see what caused them to reject me. They didn’t put any reason why in the rejection letter.

@burrowsc They may not respond to individual cases but it’s worth a try. I have no idea what they’re looking for since you visited campus and interviewed which is huge. At least you know you did all you could. You have nothing to worry about and will get into plenty of elite schools, I’m just bitter we won’t be going to the same one
