CMC ED 2 Results

Hey guys! I’m super pumped about my recent CMC acceptance, and I wanted to let everyone know that even someone without the greatest stats can still get accepted! I want to spread hope to anyone applying RD because I was absolutely not confident at all about getting in, but I did miraculously  Since I couldn’t find an ED2 results-specific thread anywhere else, I figured I’d start one, since results just came out last night. I’ll post first below!

Summer Activities: Summer program at Yale mentioned above, some beach cleanups, had an exchange student, Club soccer, kayaking, hiking (in other words, nothing special)
Essays (rating 1-10, details): My common app essays were 10 each, I consider myself a very strong writer and I wrote about my experiences with my soccer coach on a personal level. My CMC essay was probably an 8, I didn’t have a lot of fresh ideas but I did the best with what I could.
Recommendations (Rating 1-10, with details):

Teacher Rec #1: 10. My AP Euro teacher who loved me and wrote incredibly strongly about my achievements, plus she has my sister currently boosting a personal connection. Also motivated by writing a prior rec for me.

Teacher Rec #2: 9. My AP English Lang teacher from junior year. The letter wasn’t very personal in terms of relating to my EC’s but was brimming with praise. He falsely deemed me the best writer he ever met, but false praise is still good, am I right my darling readers?

Counselor Rec: 8.5. My counselor definitely knows my name and knows me very well now, but at the time was not very familiar with me besides my GPA.

Interview: It went very well and I kept in contact with the guy, we formed a good connection and it’s a shame I can’t let him know that I’d join him as a Stag.

Other:

Applied for financial aid? Yes

Reflection

Strengths: My essays were generally good and my academics were strong. My interview went well and I’d like to think I bonded with my interviewer. I demonstrated a lot of interest in CMC as I had visited 4 times already.
Weaknesses: I’m a fairly bland applicant with nothing jumping out at an admissions officer. I probably should have tried to enter as a recruited soccer player, but oh well, times have passed.

Why do you think you were rejected: Again, I’m a vanilla candidate with nothing incredible. I’m not bitter at all, and I’m really super super super happy for all of you that got accepted!

@IncorpXand‌ Wow, I’d say I’m only a marginally better candidate (slightly higher GPA, tests, leaderships) than you. I got really lucky, I guess. Good luck this year!
