CMC & NYU-Stern- Where to go?

It’s funny how I’m really split between these two schools, considering how different they are.

I’d just like a couple questions answered to help me make my decision.

People say NYU-Stern’s environment is so competitive that its cutthroat
atmosphere is one of the leading reasons why people do not choose to go there. Is that true?

Which school would have a higher workload, considering I take Finance or advertising at Stern and Economics at CMC?

Is living in the middle of NYC too much of a distraction for undergrads? Conversely, will I die of boredom at Claremont?

Lastly, which school would YOU go to?

neophyte, ill try and shed some light on the two schools as I was contemplating applying to both but ended up only applying to nyu. I applied to stern but got referred to the general studies program.

To answer your questions:
1. Sure Stern's environment is competitive. In fact, it's VERY competitive but then again, if you are planning to work in the business field, that's what you're going to face; competition, and lots of it. I don't think that is one of the main reasons kids don't go there. The fact that kids want a campus and a school not smack in the middle of a huge city is one of the main reasons kids do not go to nyu.

Both schools would have a heavy workload as NYU and Claremont are both top schools. I really can't say which one has a heavIER courseload.

Living in the middle of NYC can be awesome if you like the city, or terrible if you hate it. The positive of living in nyc, is that you're going to school in the greatest city in the world right in the middle of everything to do. You can meet all types of people (including other students from barnard, columbia, cooper union, etc...) and explore the different surroundings. You can enjoy one of the finest shopping districts in the city/north jersey, go to a yankee/net/knick/giant/jets game, visit times square, take a stroll in central park, or go to one of the many conventions nyc has. There is always something to do in the City. However, if you aren't the type of person who enjoys the urban life, then nyu isn't for you. On the other hand, Claremont's social life isn't bad at all. It's only about a 45 min from L.A and although LA isn't nearly as fun as nyc, it's certainly a fine city in its own right. The weather will also be better in claremont. CMC is also located by orange county so you will have also access to excellent shopping districts and awesome beaches. In general, the east coast tends to have more of a upbeat "pulse" whereas the west is more mellowed down.

Lastly, I'm going to nyu because I've grown up by the city my entire life and claremont is on the other side of the country.
