Contacted CMC because I was in need of an earlier decision due to other circumstances.

I was told that there were several other applicants in the same position as me, and that CMC was planning on releasing decisions a few days ahead of schedule.

I'm hoping that means that they plan on mailing decisions either today/tomorrow and that we'll get them before the end of the week?

party! I got in too. Now just waiting for the actual letter (to make sure it's not a screw up) and the aid package (to make sure I can actually attend...) Where are you guys from?

i asked my honors counselor at SMC and he said there really is no agreement with Pomona..
they just tell them that you have completed an honors program and that's about it..

What my family was told by two other SoCal privates (not Pomona, or any Claremont college) was that they prefer to take transfers from 2-year schools before 4-year, and particularly 2-year honors programs. Now, obviously the qualified 4-year applicant will get in over the unqualified 2-year applicant, but all else being comparable, there you have it. Schools also generally have some 2-year schools that they recognize as "feeder" programs--places from which they're likely to draw transfers.

At neither school that we talked to did this amount to a formal "agreement". I also can't say that it holds true for other schools. Just passing on what I have :)

Lastly...

The CMC college system is pretty sweet. The main CMC college is a really great LAC.

It's the Claremont college system, not CMC college system, and while one school is the largest and oldest, none of them could fairly be deemed "main". But yeah, it is pretty sweet ;)

I just got in to CMC, incredible! I applied last year and put my heart and soul into that app and didn't get in. This year I did, still waiting from USC though

tjmoss what were your stats last year and this year. i'm dissapointed i didn't get in. i would have been at sophomore standing if i was accepted for this year, i guess i'll have to do another year hopefully get in at junior standing next fall.

Hs stats = eh
GPA: 3.1-ish? at top private school
SAT: 2100 (high verbal/writing, low math)
EC: fairly decent but not Super Leadership Woman
Essays: good, but not enough to make up for the sloppy GPA
Recs: One good, one asinine

College stats = rock
GPA: 3.9 at Tulane with tough course load
ACT (took in Feb): 31 (again, high reading and low-ish math, but respectable science...woah.)
EC: really, really strong in the field I want to go in with lots of leadership roles on campus and a good internship for the summer (government)
recs: One really good, one really really good from a fairly influential figure in my desired field (history/expo writing)
Essays: Really good, but took forever

i honestly believed that my high school record would have screwed me over. I guess it was my constant expressed interest/lots of EC involvement at Tulane?

Really bummed out about it actually. I legitimately feel like the analytical essay I wrote for the app was one of the best essays I've ever written.

Accepted at Vanderbilt and waitlisted at NYU.

Rejected at a few others, and still waiting to hear back from three ivies + Duke, but given the string of rejections I've received this week I'm not holding my breath.

I got the acceptance email from CMC last night, I was pretty excited. Although I'm still waiting to hear back from Pomona and Macalester... I haven't decided where I should go if I get into all 3..... suggestions?
