CMC's history and students?

I hear that Claremont McKenna College is a pretty good college. But the thing is if I take a look at the best and most highly ranked liberal art colleges, CMC seems to have the shortest history of all: established in 1946. I'm not saying a school with a short history is always bad or even superficial in its school style, moral and spirit, but CMC's such a short period of development kind of bothers me, making me not sure if I want to apply or not. Another thing is that CMC is in California. Asian myself, I prefer the Northeastern areas to California because as diverse it is in California, I don't like an environment where Asian students have too big of a ratio. Does CMC have a tremendous amount of Asian students just like those other schools or those UCs? Does everybody think it's worth applying for?

Look at it this way. CMC has the shortest history of many of the top schools but is right up with there with those schools and took less time to get to that prestige and is growing yearly. The Kravis Center will be done this year and CMC is continuing to grow as a very top college. People tend to forget that CMC is one of the hardest schools to get into because it is very academically strong. As a CMC freshman, I love love love my school and I’m so glad I’m here over some of the other schools I had to choose between. You should definitely apply.

Don’t drink the vitriol. CMC has no history or legacy and it shows in the students’ behavior. They have no real reputation or “story” to be proud of in any sense. CMC has relatively few Asians vis-a-vis the UC’s and other California schools, it’s mostly upper-middle class white Californians (note that’s not me saying they make up >50%, rather there is a preponderance of them).

@kio888 - You are the only one serving up “vitriol” and to come on this forum to vent your anger about CMC by blantantly lying about the school is both sad and pathetic.
