C'mon ASAP, Plz.. the test is 2 DAYS AWAY! (writing)

first question:
CB blue book, 2nd edition, test 1, section 10, #24 (pg 410)
my question is i find "have been placed" in "D" unnecessary.. Shouldn't it be "were" at that's it? no need for have or anthing.. right?
2nd question:
CB blue book, 2nd edition, test 1, section 10, #32
Isn't "b" okay too? I mean k=just as good?

3rd question:
CB blue book, 2nd edition, test 1, section 10, #14 (pg 431)
I find "B" okay too.. just as good as well..

Thanks!

first- (old house and an even older house) have been placed-- nothing wrong with this.
sec - tricky one. it’s faulty comparison here. palace is being compared to comfort
third -again, faulty comparison. adj- because of -noun
