CMU 2010 Official Decision Thread

Anyone get in to School of Comp Sci?
What were your scores and grades etc

I got into the school of computer science with a 660 Math IIC score
730 Math SAT I score
I get all A's in my math classes but I've never taken a comp sci course (none offered) and only one AP Calc is offered (which I actually am getting a B++++ in)
Most of my extracurriculars are music-related (but I do show a huge amount of well-roundedness, I don't know if that was particularly a deciding factor).
GPA is 101 weighted, 97ish-98ish unweighted
rank 1/360
So basically the reason I got in was because I'm a girl.

dam it
Mine is: 780 Math IIC 710 Math IC Physics 690 Biology 670
740 Math SAT I score, everything else sucks
As and Bs ... my gosh I can never get As in English/Spanish
My ECs suck ... just a few community service, science enrichment stuff
, various clubs at school
GPA is bad 4.22 weighted (i think??? GPA terms confuse me)
Rank ~ have no clue, top 15-20%???

redoing SAT I and Physics cause those scores are terrible, screw Bio let it be

Hey Pongo, congratulations; out of curiosity, do you know if your decision was online over the weekend?

Thanks! I have no idea, sorry. I've been on my spring break cruise, so i was cut off from the world for a week. I can see if it's there now, if that's what you mean.

If get acceptance letter and no mention of merit aid in it, is that mean NONE? This will be 1st school with ZERO merit aid if so.

no, fin. aid was mailed today, and it won't be available online until the 30th.

Hey Pongo, yea, could you check please?

yep, it's online.

ok cool, thanks for the help

Pongo: "no, fin. aid was mailed today, and it won't be available online until the 30th."

Not clear on response, does that mean merit aid mailed after acceptance or NO if not in accpetance then none? I see other people reporting scholarships.

I guess not surprising, CMU is very competitive.

Recs: fabulous
Essays: Wrote while on the phone w. friend. Didn't proof. Don't remember what it was about. However, I used my UChicago one (based on Theme for English B) for the Common app, as well as this one about my passion for science and running (studying for a chem test while doing a distance workout.)

Also, got the full-tuition scholarship

a quick question:

i was accepted to the H&SS and i kno that both H&SS and Tepper school offer economy programs. i was wondering..is one economy offered from one of the schools better than the other? or are they the same? and also, is it possible to switch from one school to another (for instance switching from H&SS to CIT or Tepper)?

i don't really know. That's just what it said when i checked online. I don't know if that just means the need based stuff or what. I guess we'll see. I suppose real mail is more reliable anyway.

so the rejection letters come after the acceptances?
