AcceptedAlready- you asked "Is CMU your first choice or do you just get excited easily?"

actually it is my 2nd choice (very close behind my 1st choice). and my first choice is acutally occupied by 2 colleges right now.
but im definitely DEFINITELY going to go visit cmu in the next month or so!!!!
and i m just really excited (iono if i get EASILY excited) bc its REALLY thrilling for me to get this acceptance because honestly , i thought my SAT scores killed my app. and i wasnt really sure if my common app essay was really personal(it had good style but many ppl had told me that i lacked focus on myself) . i'd been havin some negative comments on chances in the past/recently and so i was expecting rejection rejection rejection!
so i am most definitely ecstatic!!

Anything Special: First generation college student
It arrived in mail today (as well as my waitlist at Olin :()

Since Olin might not be possible, CMU is definately my top choice although I haven't visited yet. The real dilemma is choosing between CMU with it's larger price tag (but probably would like it a lot more) and UIUC Honors ECE with instate tuition (but probably wouldn't like as much).

Good luck to everyone with their decisions.

i didn't get anything yet...

lol either ppl r 2 ashamed 2 say they got rejected or the ppl who havnet got letters yet r screwed lmao that includes me

When I opened my mailbox today, I saw a big envelope and got all excited. I thought I got into CMU. It turned out it was just a freaking application letter from the University of Pittsburgh.

nothing in the mail yet for me, but I'm way out in Cali.

okay...i've finally recovered from the shock of getting into CMU yesterday so i think i'm ready to post my stats

btw, i didn't have an interview (i was wondering if that would hurt my chances)

I GOT IN!!!!!!! I got accepted at MCS. One quick question did scholarship info come in the acceptance or will they send that (if you get one) with the fin aid package?

Lex248

big shock.. :P

haha... i really did think i was done because of my lack of interview... see about a month ago i received this packet of names and contact numbers from CMU and all it said was "schedule your alumni interview today!" haha..really i was worried

"lol either ppl r 2 ashamed 2 say they got rejected or the ppl who havnet got letters yet r screwed lmao that includes me"

Lots of letters sent early are acceptances.

Yes some people are ****ed/ashamed to say they've been rejected.

Some people were rejected or waitlisted from their first choice (let's say SCS) but they only post "accepted to (example: HSS)." which is their second or even third choice. Note that the schools in brackets are mere examples and should not be seen as an attack or promotion of either school.

I've already gotten 3-4 PM's (won't say who) from ppl who have been rejected from their first choice and had questions about attending the 2nd/3rd schools.

If anyone has questions about anything concerning Carnegie Mellon (academics, social life, the city, money issues, prestige/job opps, etc) feel free to PM me as well.

woohoo my first college acceptance that isnt a safety WOOT! and i finally came back to this site after a long time. YAY!

Accepted: MCS,
GPA: 5.12 weighted (we go out of 6.3), 3.60 unweighted
Rank: top 10% of class
SAT II: MathIIC:770, Chemistry:770, US history: 750, Biology: 760
EC: Key Club, MUN
Good essays and recs

woohoo maybe i can finally go back to posting here or other forums depending on my other letters. i dont want to wait anymore...... :(

Yay, i got accepted to CIT, MCS, and SCS

Accepted Already, it seems to me that the acceptances are going out the earliest, do you expect tomorrow to be a similar day of notifications so those who havent heard yet shouldnt worry

stats for chimera?

They do mix rejections with acceptances (as some people who got letters already were rejected). I'm just saying a majority of letters sent out earlier are acceptance letters.

I obviously can't say exactly for you whether you've been accepted or rejected but I believe a majority of letters sent out tomorrow will also be acceptances.

I have the feeling that they send the thin envelopes a couple days after a whole bunch of the acceptances are sent. At least that's what Rice did...

You're still in the clear for the next couple of days! I"m pretty sure fat letters are still arriving tmrw.
