CMU has released the admission statistics for the 2007/2008 applicant pool. Selectivity has risen sharply for some colleges within the university. For example, acceptance rates are now down to less than 14 % at Tepper and less than 19 % at SCS. The overall CMU acceptance rate (all colleges included) is also down to, I believe, a record low of approximately 28 %.

Wow.. How did i even get in.......

Welcome!

Now I get to watch all the freshmen show me up.

How come the CR scores are so low??? Tepper has 600-700 as their range. 600! Wow.

I am not sure, but if you compare it with the mid-50 % Math scores, it just reinforces the perception that CMU is a "techie" school where quantitative/math abilities have a greater weight in the admissions process than English/verbal skills.

It is interesting though that the lower and upper limits of the CR range for admitted SCS students are approximately 50 points higher , even though the acceptance rate at Tepper is actually lower. One would imagine that verbal skills should matter more for business students than for CS majors, but I guess SCS, being the highest ranking school within CMU, ends up attracting better applicants.

omg... thank you

i expect the acceptance rate to cmu is going to only lower. in like a three years, cmu's acceptance rate is gonna be like 15%.

I wonder how many HS juniors they admitted.

Wow, that's pretty intriguing. I got into both MCS and H&SS. I feel quite honored, yo. Oh well, it's too bad that I'm not going here, since I feel that Wesleyan is a better fit for me. Nevertheless, have fun, everybody!

it's probably b/c a lot of ppl from mainland China are applying to the school in the US
