I hear over and over that kids are sent from Barbara to Kaf, but I haven’t heard about anyone sent from Kaf to Barbara. At the auditions we also saw kids go from Barbara to Kaf but not the other way around. I am just wondering if by any chance Kaf is considered “senior” to Barbara or if this was just the way it happened today. Thanks. And thanks to operationgold7 for answering my other question!

According to the CMU website, Barabara is the “Professor of Acting” and the “Acting Option Coordinator” while Kaf is an “Associate Teaching Professor of Movement.” So, I think that Barbara is “superior” to Kaf, if superiority matters any in the auditions. It’s probably just a coincidence Kaf didn’t send anyone over.

You can audition with someone else besides Barbara and be sent to Barbara, or least that is how I recall it happening when my D auditioned there. I don’t know the name of who she did her monologues for first, but she then was sent to Barbara and did four monologues for Barbara. For singing, she also saw two different people in different rooms. This was not this year.

My CMU audition is tomorrow, and it sounds like so many of you guys had wonderful auditions! Does anyone have any tips for me?

Just be yourself and HAVE FUN! I know, that sounds cliche and everything, but it’s really, really true, especially with CMU. They are SO nice there and try their hardest to be friendly and helpful, but you’ll only get as much out of it as you put in. So just relax and break a leg! Be sure to tell us all about it tomorrow!

I suppose it is too late at this time, but did you consider applying for some of the other colleges at CMU and doing a drama minor, or interdepartmental transfer? Just in case? I know the odds of getting into CFA are quite low, though it sounds like your audition went well.

I’ve been set on conservatory for a while. Even though I loved the campus, I really dont have an interest in minoring in acting.

In response to the Kaf to Barbara question, at my audition with the Chicago Unifieds, there were four of us in the Wednesday morning session who were sent to see a second auditor. Two of us went from Barbara to Kaf (myself included), the other two auditioned first for Kaf and then for Babara.

I don’t believe either is “superior” to the other as far as the auditions go. But this audition was one of my favorite because of their positive energy. Just my two cents!

Just in case anyone hasn’t auditioned yet for 2010, I wanted to let you guys know that for my 2/13 12pm MT audition there were 3 acting auditors: Ingrid, Barbara, and Kaf. I think that they had Ingrid working too so the auditions would move along quicker, considering how many people audition for MT. There were still only 2 singing auditors: Gary and Claudia. Everyone is really nice and it’s seriously an awesome audition day!
