Ive been looking at colleges for biomedical engineering, and Carnegie Mellon peaked my interest. However, biomedical engineering is only offered as an additional major to another engineering major. Do you think it’s worth it to apply, perhaps with electrical engineering? I don’t want the course load to be so overwhelming, but I also am open to a challenge. Also, would electrical engineering be the best major to supplement with?
Hello! It’s definitely do-able because it’s planned as a secondary major. Most people combine BME with mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. The combination is actually WAY better because you gain a lot more knowledge and can apply the concepts better. For example, one of my friends is BME/MechE and worked for a health care company this summer designing an innovative stent.
Good luck with everything!
