I am probably going to CMU majoring in either Business or Econ. For those of you who know lots about either program, which major/track to do suggest taking if I want to do ibanking or merger and acquisitions. I have heard that for ibanking, any major will work as long as you come from a prestigious college. Also, I basically want to work my ass off to get into a good grad program or have a solid job out of college. How can I maximize my workload and get the most out of CMU?

bump.. also how much better is tepper than generall economics?

Tepper is ranked highly in the Business and is regarded as an excellent school

Bump

I also recently heard of their 3-2 program. It sounds really good but does anyone know what it takes to get into this sort of program. What can I do the first 2 and a half years to maximize chances to get into that program. I'm talking about things other than great grades/leadership/summer internships. Do they look for people in specific majors/who have taken certain classes. Also, I am assuming CMU professors who are highly regarded make a strong impact. Are you basically guaranteed in if you get a good rec?
