I can't decide where to go......it's a really tough choice atm and i'd really appreciate some help!

I know that CMU's ECE program is pretty great, but as an international student, the costs are pretty high....

But regardless of the expenses, im curious about the quality of the education, campus and student life at CMU compared to that at Imperial.

Oh, and is Imperial highly regarded outside the UK? I know it is one of the best schools in England, but I've no idea as to its reputation outside the Kingdom...

and it also bugs me that having lived for 7 yrs in england wiv an indefinite leave to remain in the UK, i'd have to pay at int'l rates simply because i moved back to Korea...

oh and also, do the US universities give credit to a four years undergrad. master’s degree earned in the UK? I’m considering doing a PhD in the US after Imperial if I do go, but I might have to take my master’s again in the US…

On the other hand, if you go to CMU, you’ll have to pay $50k/year (tuition + room and board) and, as an international, you’ll get no financial aid !

All things considered, you’ll probably be better off financially if you go to Imperial, even paying tuition at international rates.

Yes, but I also wish to do my Ph.D in the US. Would a MD in England be readily accepted by the US top universities, or would they require me to retake the Master’s in the US?

By your definition of enough, you gotta draw a yardstick. For me, my definition of enough is “the maximum of FA + bank loan + family contribution enables me to graduate from CMU”, yes I would disregard debt. The ROI in CMU is definitely there, so not to worry.

@rs_ong: it took me a while to understand you there :)

The thing is I’m an international, and so don’t get any FA. Also, being int’l, it would be harder to get a job in the US. So it comes down to which university gets more worldwide recognition.

sang10518, the above is just some simple programming codes. You’ll definitely write much more complex codes within a few lessons in CMU.

Even though there is an apparent “truth” that internationals have a harder time to get jobs, FA etc in US. However, I still think that CMU is definitely a wonderful programme to enroll. Think big. I’m an international too and I’m willing to max out Loans + FA to attend the best possible college (and disregard debt after graduation).
