Why not just use this board. It's the most active board for CMU students (getting 2 avg posts a day) rather than CMU's own board (getting 1 post per week).

I know you probably want just a board for '10ers but this board is pretty deserted anyways OR you could always stick to 1 thread.

Actually, the kids who joined the board got to know each other really well. Not even kidding, we're meeting up soon.

So, it might not be the most active board, but it sure is the friendliest. We'll definitely not tell you that your SAT scores are too low or your GPA isn't quite right. It's nice to have a place that takes you for who you are.

Yea im part of that forum, its not too active, but I definately like it. We are planning on meeting soon in NY, and to be honest I have met more people through that forum than any where else.

And my reason for liking that forum as oppose to this is.. it just feels nicer. Having a just 10ers board feels more organized, and it feels more comfty. :)

idk. meeting people online then actually meeting in person?

youll be doing that anyway come september, wont you?

The silly notion of the giant white van and the kid napping terrorists with candy really shouldn't apply as much mate. I mean, we are all going to be off to college ina year or so (unless we are already there), and in truth, I don't see anything unsafe or odd about meeting some people that I know of online in person (of course in a public place, that Hector guy kinda scares me ;) ), but really. I think its kinda of fun, meeting up with some people to get to know them better before college starts.

Of course, we are all different people I guess. For example my friend!@ He hates getting massages because people he doesnt know are touching him, ZOMG massages are sooo great though !!!! >:OOO

.... I hope you got my point(s?) ..

Yeah it's totally safe. I met my roommate online through AIM before we ever got to college. Our class (2009) was one of the first to use AIM chats (Chat room CMU2009) to talk. We got 10 people regularly EVERY NIGHT and 20 people on busy nights.

It was pretty fun and I'm really glad I got to pick my awesomely cool roommate. We avoided a lot of bad roommate issues by talking about it over online first (like sleep schedules and space and girls sleeping over etc.).

I'm pretty sure we're one of the closest roommates on our floor now and it was a very good experience since senior year of summer I had like nothing to do but hang out with friends at night and talk to my future CMU friends during the day.

yeah assuming they go to or will go to cmu and that they are completely sane and normal

and when you meet him/her it could be a HUGE disappointment

Well maybe if you meet "her" it would be a disappointment but you can usually not be disappointed from a "guy", unless you're into guys?

Anyways remember one thing: some girls apparently use the WalMart wallet photos as their facebook so try and treat everyone the same instead of trying to talk to the hottest chicks online. It won't work :)

wait that means you could get nonmale room mate?

No I'm just saying if you meet a "hot" girl online she might not be so hot when you meet her during orientation.

very good point. I will lower my expectations...

hey acceptedtocollegeAlready! sorry to change the subj.

Can you tell me if CMU gets lots of arch. applications?
if i call them will they tell me if they have any openings for arch transfers?
-few more weeks to find out my decision! :)

err i resent the comment about the "quality" of girls.

I wasn't insulting the quality, just that some girls use pics that are "misleading" on facebook. Happens at cornell's facebook too :)

Stone: Architecture at CMU is very hard (avg 5 years instead of avg 4 years for the normal CMU major). They work at least 1 day in the studio every weekend and they do tend to get quite a few applications. However this does not mean anything as every department gets a lot of applications and has some space for transfers.

They definitely don't know if there are openings yet but you probably have to go through some hoops such as show some architectural drawings or take some kind of classes? I would definitely talk to your advisor once you arrive at CMU.

i dont mind the workload. i've spent looong hours at studios before at my current university.

i'm just feeling very very anxious--less than a month for decisions--plus or minus few days.

too bad they dont look at your porfolio for admissions.
