CMU Class of 2025 - Regular Decision

No, he has to opt in April 9

No. If you don’t pay $800 in 72 hours then they give the spot to the next person.

Just got in today. Does anyone know when the fat letter should arrive?

Applicants who have been admitted (as of today) have until May 3 to make a decision. A week later, applicants on the priority list will be told if they are in or not, depending on how many spots are still remaining.

Congrats! I just got in too. I really don’t know. In January, CMU emailed me that there were some missing documents for my application; a month later, a letter arrived through the mail about the same documents. As a result, I presume it takes around a month.

However, I must say that I’m an international applicant from Brazil, so I think it arrives much faster if you are a US resident.

Ok…so just to be clear…the only “risk” in accepting the priority waitlist is that you have a very short time (72 hours) to make your decision, correct?

From reading the website, the priority waitlist is not binding, though it says if you are accepted they “expect” you to commit and put down a deposit.

I’m assuming that nobody from the regular waitlist will stand a chance as any limited spots will go to the priority WL kids? Is that a bad assumption??

Why wouldn’t everyone just choose the priority option to better their chances and then make a quick decision if accepted?

Does CMU ever publicize the number of kids who get off the regular wl versus the priority wl?

Those who were admitted today, did you receive any email from CMU about it? We haven’t received any communication about it yet.

Nope. Just opened the portal to get the decision

And one more thing…I think CMU could maybe be a little clearer in their decision letters. I see a crazy number of kids on Reddit A2C declaring “I got Priority Waitlisted!!” There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding out there.

Okay. Hopefully, soon.

accepted into Tepper

My son was also waitlisted. It’s basically a rejection. Given the 3-4% chance to get off the list, getting into Harvard may be easier. That’s probably why most people won’t even bother.

Would it be correct to understand that everyone who has been waitlisted has been ‘priority’ waitlisted? OR, are there two buckets of WaitList (WL) - Regular WL and Priority WL?

I think everyone who was waitlisted has an option of selecting the regular waitlist or the priority waitlist.

This made me laugh because our older child is at Harvard…and got in off the waitlist! It really made us adopt a never-say-never attitude as far as college waitlists are concerned.

It depends on the college.

Waitlisted. Got into the honor program at RPI, Stevens Institute, Rutgers, and TCNJ.

Test optional.
UW 4.0, W 4.64
AP: Calc BC - 5, Physic 1 - 5, Comp Principles - 5, Biology - 4, Comp A - 4.
SAT Math: 800
Don’t have many ECs.

Will be happy to go to NJ state universities, because they cost less. Stevens or RPI is 50K-70K more than state university for 4 years.
