<p>I'm from a somewhat competitive public school in NY.
I'm applying as a Decision Science major to Dietrich College and was wondering what my chances are and if there are any ways by which I can increase my chances.</p>

<p>You’re competitive — you’d be competitive at literally any school in the country. The only things I can think of that would give you a better shot are A) showing interest and B) killer essays. Otherwise, you’re in the hands of fate.</p>

<p>Agree with @sockersocket. Your essay needs to be top notch. My D is a Decision Science major at CMU and loves it. It is competitive in that there are not many colleges that offer an undergrad degree in Decision Sciences(mostly they are grad degrees) and CMU has the best program in the country. </p>

<p>^ I am so glad you chimed in! My D is very interested in this major- Decision Sciences. However, she has as yet not had any classes in logic, economics, philosophy that might guide her as to whether it is something she really wants to devote herself long term. How did your D decide on this major? What career opportunities is she hoping for with this major? Any inf would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, what were her stats from high school?</p>
