CMU Drama Audition

I know how helpful it was at the beginning of my audition process to read other peoples audition experiences so I decided to write down my experience at my top choice!
I had my acting audition for Carnegie Mellon University on February 2nd, 2012 in New York City at Ripley Grier Studios. My audition time was at 12:00 but I arrived around 11:00.
I was able to sign in even though I got there so early and I spent the next hour talking to the actors and occasionally to the theatre academic counselor available for questions.
At 12:00 the auditionees, both Acting and MT, were led with their guests into another room that would later be used for dance auditions. There was Barbara, an MT teacher, an
MT choreographer, a Movement teacher, the theatre academic counselor and a CMU Acting graduate. I immediately noticed the staff's really nice and laid back (but professional)demeanor.
They all talked to us about the audition process, the program and offered the floor to any questions. When that was finished the Acting graduate called out three Actors names to start off the session.
I was called first. The three of us gathered in the waiting room.
Then I was sent into the room with Barbara. She was extremely nice. I announced my monologues and then performed them. She told me to do a third and so I did my third monologue.
Afterwards, we went back to my first monologue and she worked with me on it for a while. She asked me to sit with her, asked me what other colleges I was applying to and then sent me to the next
room with the movement teacher. I went out, informed the staff and then waited 3 minutes or so before being called into the second room. I performed both of my monologues. She asked me to sing and I did.
Then I was called to her and she asked me what my colleges were. I told her and then she asked if I had any questions about CMU.
We talked about movement, Playground, the drama
curriculum and collaboration at the school.
Then it was finished and I left...and now I'm waiting to hear back!
I hope this is helpful to someone
