I am considering applying to Carnegie Mellon as a junior through their "early admission" program.

Unfortunately, CMU's site is quite barren with statistics or facts on the program.

Does anyone know how many kids apply/are accepted into this program? I suspect it's quite low, but I am far from sure.

Thanks! :D

Although I am unsure, the impression I was under was that you had to do their summer program the year before.

My son wanted to apply ED at CMU but was told that he couldn’t because he is too young (16). He was advised to apply through Early Admission by the admission officer because he is on a 3 year track to finish high school. He has not participated in the summer AP program because we couldn’t afford the cost. Those that do well in the summer AP program have higher chance of admission to CMU. He was told that students in Early Admission are assessed as those applying RD and that both have the same deadline (jan 1).
