I'm looking for a strong background that will help me succeed in the financial sector. I am very comfortable with attending any of these programs: Information Systems at CMU, Operations Engineering at Cornell, or Finance at NYU Stern.

What I want from my college: Good reputation and career opportunities in consulting or ibanking(just throwing it in as possibility.. not main interest). School that will push my quantitative skills, while still paying focus to developing my communication skills.

Help! Also can someone compare them in terms of difficulty in getting in? I still can't figure out how tough getting into Stern is compared to other colleges like Cornell/CMU etc. All people tell me that it is much tougher to get into Stern than other schools at NYU, but I already know that.

Finance at stern or engineering at cornell, cornell i think being the better of the 2.

I'd choose NYU only because I would hate going to either of the other schools.

well, ur from texas, what do u know lol....JUST KIDDING.

I hope so.

The largest medical complex on the planet, Texas Medical Center, is in Texas. The Rockets are also comin' back I tell ya. :)

Ever heard of Texas Chainsaw Massacre? We are some violent people when you get us stirred up!

Well basically Cornell is in a crappy little cold town with a bunch of alcoholics and CMU is in one of the least attractive large cities in the US with a bunch of nerds hanging around. So there is my reasoning.

Your post tells us a great deal more about you than it does about either of the schools you mention.

anyone want to help me out here?

I'll give you guys basic stats:
SAT: 800M, 640CR, 660W( I will take over hoping to improve to 700CR,700W)
SAT2:800 2c, 780 Chem
Grades: Decent at 'top'(thats debatable) school in country
If you need more details PM me

And even though my SAT scores show that I should probably be engineer, I'm not srue I want to major in engineering. I would like to have a career related around financial services(banks, ibanks, brokerage, research wutever).

Thanks

i think CMU would be a great choice as well. its business school is very reputable and was ranked the hottest college for getting good jobs out of college by the kaplan-newsweek college guide. my sister goes there and she loves it. many think CMU is a bunch of 'nerds hanging around' and i don't disagree with that but its still a great place for some people. not everyone is a frat-hopping, partying socialite. that said, the students at CMU still party (:

w.r.t. your question as to how easy it is to get into these schools, if you take a look at the business schools specifically, i'd say carnegie would be easiest and cornell would be hardest.
