Hello! I'd appreciate any advice on choosing between these colleges:

CMU, Penn, WashU, Tufts, Case Western Reserve, Boston U.

I am planning on going into BME, although I'm not totally sure yet. Money-wise, I got $23,000 from Case, $14,000 at CMU and practically nothing at TUfts, Penn, and WashU. BU--half tuition, but I'm not really considering BU as much as the other ones.

Besides Case though (it's too close to home!)...how do the others compare? Right now I'm vacillating between CMU and Penn.

Also, I'm afraid that I won't stick to BME, so in that sense of having more options, Penn is better (I think?) but CMU's engineering program overall is ranked higher than Penn.

What to do what to do?? (Thanks in advance for your replies!)

When you say you want more options, does that mean strictly in the engineering school? If so, then I would choose CMU since it is a much more engineering-focused school. If by options you mean business/liberal arts, then I would go to Penn.

If you think you might want to do other engineering than BME, then you should go to CMU. CMU has a better engineering program than Penn, and it offers you some scholarship. If you don't mind to pay the money and enjoy an ivy league school, then go to Penn.

I would say that it should boil down to Case or Penn...but Case will only cost you $20,000, whereas Penn will cost you an extra $25,000/year. I think Penn is a more reputable and more well-rounded university...but is it worth spending an addtional $100,000 for a Penn degree? Only you can decide.

Washington U to many people is overranked in USnews, but they have excellent students, their departments are solid and the campus looks pretty nice.

OMG do you ppl realize that CMU doesnt even offer a BME major??? only a double with another engineering. I love CMU, but for you i would say do not come here. We are an great school, but not in every single area. esp BME
