I finally have my financial aid from both schools: CMU gave me $33,465($20,340 in grants, $10,625 in loans, and $2,500.00 ; leaving ~$10,000 for me to pay out of pocket) and URochester gave me $42578($35453 in grants, $4625 in loans, and $2500 in workstudy; leaving about ~$3000 for me to pay out of pocket).

I have no idea what I should do. I want to major in physics, math, and possibly CS. I'm also planning on attending grad school.

Well if you are getting 15K more from UofR and your ultimate goal is research and grad school then UofR would be fine. There is a hospital right across the street (Strong Memorial /University of Rochester Medical Center) that is well known for research.
UofR has a beautiful campus but other than the hospital not much else useful nearby that you could really walk to.
CMU has Oakland and Squirrel Hill and a wonderful surrounding area.
If the money was the same I would probably say CMU but in your situation UofR would be a good choice.

I stumbled across this thread looking for potential freshman who are attending UR next year as the class of '10

As a start, I am a D'Lion (a student organization to help Freshman adjust to campus life and help them with academic and social things) of 2009.

UR has an excellent physics department, comperable to at least CMU if not an Ivy league school.

On top of that, if you want to go to grad school afterwards, to be honest, your undergraduate education doesn't really matter that much. As long as you prove to the graduate admissions department of wherever you intend to apply that you've fulfilled various physics and math requirements.

You also might find out that you like optics which we have a lovely (well right now it's this ugly steel frame, but the picture looks pretty) building being put up for the new department.

And by the looks of the aid you'd be better off coming here at UR.

Good luck with your decisions, if you need any more help or anyhting of the sort, feel free to contact me at achang3@mail.rochester.edu or my aim: dltprm.
