My D went to a PA school, and we live within a couple of hours from CMU - so I have known dozens of kids who have gone to that audition (and three who were accepted). I have never heard a “bad” recap from a kid. Passed on or not, every person I have ever talked to who auditioned for CMU felt that they had been “seen” and valued, and given a fair shot. I can’t think of another school (at least not one with the prestige of CMU) that can say that. They are a classy bunch.
So… Have phone calls already been made this year for drama and MT? Do wait listed students get calls or is there still something to hope for on Saturday?
It appears that calls have not been made as of yet. Still awaiting the waiting.
@kelbo4 … last year, waitlisted student were not called. There portal for CMU was changed to reflect the waitlist and a letter followed … hope that helps 
The CMU admissions office confirmed that they are snail mailing undergraduate acceptances out this afternoon. If calls are not made today or tomorrow, all will be moot.

If they chose not to call, that would be the first time in years. I’ve heard they are the school that started the tradition of phone calls. Will they be the ones to end it? We will know in 48 hours I’d say.
I have thought for some time that the calls are great for accepted kids- who wouldn’t want to hear the squeal of joy - but kind of hard on the others. Knowing other people’s phones are ringing- staring at yours as it doesn’t ring… It’s hard. CMU seems to want to be equally “nice” to all- maybe they figured that out. Or maybe phones will start ringing any second- who knows
I received an email stating letters go out today, and portal results will be posted on Saturday. Does that mean they’ll make calls anyway?
Just to be clear, do Acting students also usually get phone calls or just MTs?
In past years I believe Barbara has made acting calls, Gary MT calls. I thought they went out on a Sunday last year, but I rechecked an old thread, and it looks like it was actually a Friday.
I don’t know but it is possible that the admission mishaps of earlier this year may have prompted a change in practices. I imagine there are a lot of lawsuits flying around because of the accidental admissions. But I don’t know how that would stop a phone call.
