(Didn't see a thread for 2014, so I figured I would make one!)

I am applying to Carnegie Mellon AP/EA this summer, which I am very excited about. I wanted to go last summer, but because I have a summer birthday I wasn't eligible to live in the dorms. Who else is applying, and to what program?

I feel pretty strongly that I'll make it in, seeing the admissions statistics from last year, but I still worry that I won't. I have my application in already and am eagerly awaiting both my letter and the course options for 2014.

I am a white female, who will be a rising senior this summer. My brother is a sophomore majoring in Information Systems at CMU, which is how I found out that this program is offered. While my SAT score is fairly average, my GPA is strong and I take a good amount of challenging classes. I worked hard on my essay and I imagine that the two teachers who it got recommendations from had positive things to say, so I am crossing my fingers!

My daughter applied to AP/EA for the coming summer as well. She is very anxious to learn if she was accepted or not! Wondering whether they have started sending out notifications yet.

I haven’t heard anything, but my guidance office had to resend my transcript, so that is probably holding up the decision…

I was recently accepted to the architecture program!! They’ll send an e-mail of acceptance prior to the actual acceptance package. Good luck!

Congrats! I got accepted to the AP/EA program on Friday! Eagerly awaiting my acceptance package.

Congrats, Knittergirrl!! Same here, they made it sound so fancy!

Also, do you have the admissions statistics from last year?

^ that would be cool :o Does anyone have the 2014 course list? I only put the 2013 course numbers on the online app. Hopefully they didn’t change.

They most likely wouldn’t

The course list is at this link. Numbers didn’t change, but offerings did change a little: http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/pre-college-apea-overview

Admissions statistics for AP/EA last year say that 284 students applied, 224 were admitted, and 139 enrolled.

Wow, do you have similar statistics for Pre-College Architecture??

I believe there are actually statistics for each program under their FAQ section.

Is AP/EA free like the SAMS program at CMU? Also, what is the difference between taking college courses at CMU and taking courses at a local community college? Do they give you a leg up on admissions?

Thanks all.

The AP/EA program isn’t free, it’s fees and requirements are posted on the Pre-College website. Thus, it’s much easier to get accepted to. The Art and Design and Architecture programs have available scholarships via a separate application.

On a side note, I finally received the acceptance packet yesterday! I was shocked to have gotten accepted to the Architecture AND Art and Design programs - I’d assumed that it was either one or the other. I’m going for architecture nevertheless.

I just got accepted to the AP/EA program this summer and I’m really excited!! I’m an International student from Qatar. See you all this summer!

Looking forward to meeting you & everyone else, @dashtiy!!

Bump.
Anyone apply to Architecture?

Wait…results came out already?

Edit: I applied via the Summer Programs for Diversithy
