I'm a current junior, and CMU is my first choice.
I'm really interested in the summer program they have there, both the AP/EA one, as well as the art/design and architecture one. How hard is it to get into these summer programs, and how many people apply?
Here are my stats
SAT - ~2230, i'm retaking it this month
SAT II - Math Level II - 800
GPA - 3.8 unweighted
I got a C in AP physics C last tri, but I'm sure it'll be an A next two tris. If i get a letter of rec from my physics teacher, will it make up for it?
I'm a mostly A, some B's student, and haven't gotten a C since last tri.
AP scores - 4 on Calc AB and APEuro, and this year i'm taking physics C and calcBC, and self studying for AP psych and AP Comp Science A.
I'm Indian, which doesn't really work for my benefit, so I'm not applying to the diversity programs. Do I have a chance at this program? Are there other summers programs I can get into?
I'm really set on CMU though :)
Thanks!

you have the stats and will get into the summer program if you submit a decent app and can pay the tuition. i strongly recommend ap/ea and doing well in your classes if you want to guarantee admission to the university

The reality is that if you’re full pay, you have as good a shot as any getting a spot at pre-college.
That said, the C in Physics and the 4 on Calc AB send a potential red flag on your ability to handle tough courses.
It would be very wise to get a letter from the physics teacher if your grades are up to an A at this point.

Self study shows initiative but there’s no grades to show how you are actually doing.
The gpa and sat scores are good.

As BCO said, if you do well in two classes this summer, you are pretty much accepted to CMU. I don’t know why this secret is not more widespread.

Sorry about this seeing as this is two years late but what do you define as doing well? I did AP/EA and took 18-100 Electrical and Computer engineering and 15-112 Principles of computing(I think that’s the name) I want to apply ECE to CMU if it matters.
