CMU Pre-Med?

I'm currently a sophomore student in high school and Carnegie Mellon has always been on my list of universities which I intend to apply to for pre-med. I read up online about the pre-med program at Carnegie Mellon for the basic admission requirements. I know that Carnegie Mellon is very competitive to get into so for those who are currently or already have attended Carnegie Mellon for pre-med, what did you do to get in? What helped you stand out from other applicants? I'm REALLY keen on applying to this university so any advice would really help.

Thanks.

P.S. I'm currently a Canadian citizen living in Canada so do my chances of admission drop because of my residency?

Anyone? I would really appreciate it.

Simple answer to these types of questions: keep your undergraduate expenses as low as possible because medical school is an expensive investment. That may mean forgoing your dream school to avoid a financial nightmare later.
