i'm an international student accepted by CMU school of computer science, annual total cost is $53,000. i don't know whether the cmu education deserve it, because i had never been to US and do not have a concept of what CMU means to a student.

Give me some advice and something beyond the Viewbook and statistic.

CMU is a great school. The bottom line is how much is $53K to you? If your family is very well off and can afford it I'd do it. What are your other choices? I'd pay a little more to go to private CMU than an expensive OOS tuition like Michigan. Pittsburgh is a great town and CMU is close to good restaurants and UPitt.

only CMU and OSU come out. OSU offers merit scholarship,
so $34k-$6.6k=$25.4k/year
Carleton,Colgate,Harvey Mudd,UC-Berkley have not come out, others are safety.
$53k*4 is about all of my family deposit, you probably know the econ situation in china.

Think about the post-graduation prospects and salary possibilities after CMU, and if you think it'll be enough for your family to live comfortably through your 4 years and after college.

You seem to be a very smart guy. If you can handle paying back your two uncles after college, and if your family can live well while your in college and afterwards when your making money, then you should go to CMU.

CMU is top notch for comp sci, but outside of that and some engineering, its not worth that price tag.

Dude, try to stay with us here. He's trying to do Comp Sci, not something outside of CS or "some engineering", so why would it matter how it was ranked in other fields.
