In what order would you attend these schools for computer science?

In what order would you attend these schools for CS but with a full scholarship at CMU SCS and a 10k financial aid package for the ivies?

You've got it in the right order imo.

full scholarship at CMU SCS?

CMU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> World

Without the scholarship

CMU SCS > UPenn & Columbia

In my mind only Stanford and MIT can compete with CMU for CS.

yea for comp sci, cmu will pretty much romp everything except mit and stan and perhaps caltech.

Agreed: CMU SCS >> Penn, CMU SCS >> Columbia.

(Stanford, MIT, and Berkeley are comparable to CMU SCS...Caltech is not as good for CS)

Oh for God's sake... here I got rejected from MIT and waitlisted at Stanford, yet accepted to CMU SCS. That pretty much matches what you guys are saying.

saber is right about Caltech - CS is not their specialty. CS is probably what CMU is most famous for, and rightly so. If you got a full scholarship to SCS, and you want to study CS, send in your enrollment deposit RIGHT NOW if you haven't already done so.

Or you can just go someplace else and try to find a way to donate that scholarship to me. Maybe I could even split it with ThinkDifferent...

Sounds good to me, KK.

Holy crap, full ride to CMU CS? You deffinately have to go there. CMU is such a cool school, I don't go there, but I visited for about 4 days and it is awesome, so is the CS program. I totally envy you.

What kind of stats do you need to get a full ride to CMU SCS? Did you cure cancer and aids or something?

it's computer science, silly.... he cured COMPUTER cancer i.e. adware...

No actually i dont have amazing stats at all, esp comp sci wise (my biggest achievement is getting a 5 on Comp Sci A...). I really think they gave me the scholarship because I would diversify the school. I'm white. Its just that i play sports for HS and stuff like that. At my interview i said i played basketball for my school and the guy flipped out, saying, "Wow, we dont have much of that here." Yeah...

Oh well, i'm going to columbia seas anyway. I know you guys are gonna kill me for making such a stupid decision but i just didnt feel right at CMU. Hopefully that justifies the tens of thousands of dollars i'm losing, heh.

If you feel right there, go. You gotta be happy for your four years.
